Sorry I haven't been around much again lately. So here is an update.
I thought I was going to have some time, hours, during the last few weeks. I actually had 2 weeks vacation, but that relates to 10 days. I still work weekends. But up until now I have only had 8 days off this year, so the 10 days is great.
The really good news is I have perfect attendance as an instructor at the college, so I get the week of spring break off as an extra week of vacation! Plus I have another 2 weeks coming. I'm really looking forward to that!
The past two weeks were not recreation. I spent most of it catching up errands and housework. But that's okay. The home looks much better. Not all good yet, but much better.
The bad news is Debbie got sick from a cold about 5 weeks ago. It seems that each time she gets ill, she comes back a bit less that before. This has been happening from the time of the brain infection. She is over the cold, but during that time, she became very very weak.
We had to move the commode chair back upstairs. It's in her room at night, and in the front room during the day. The bathroom is only 20 feet away from her chair, and about 15 feet away from her bed, but she can't do that on her own during and after this last cold.
She is over the cold, but is still very weak. Until three days ago she was chilling to the point of almost having convultions from shivering. This would last for hours, then she would get overheated, as a rebound I'm guessing, and sweat for hours. That's now over and she is much more stable. Her strength is coming back a small amount, and she is eating much better again. She still needs help to go more than a few feet on her own, but she is now doing that much and can use the commode chair on her own. It's difficult for her, but she is managing. That's an improvement.
Hopefully in another couple of weeks, or sooner, she will be able to get to the van and drive again. But right now I'm not sure. Been a rough month. I am concerned how the daytime will go when I am back to teaching at the college and Meg is back at school during the day. With the progress she has made, I think she will do okay. Guess I'll find out Monday.
Back to the good side. My C3 MIGHT be going into the body shop at the college perhaps at or just after the end of the month. I thought it would be sooner, and I'm still not sure of the date. When it does, I will take photos and start writing. The body and paint will show up in Corvette Enth Mag. just like the engine article. Keep you fingers crossed on that one.
It will be bright red, and maybe realistic flames on the cowl section of the hood and custom paint "Corvette" on the rear bumper. Provided all goes well. Time will tell. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Now for the truly scary. Meg has her temp permit, and is starting to drive!
So far no damage to the Tempo.
And my nerves are still okay. But she needs a LOT more practice!

Well gotta go for now. I need to get out of the scooter store, pick up some stuff so I can make supper tonight, and get home. I'll try to get back on tonight.

Ken - Thanks for the update. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Hope your wife recovers from her cold and continues to make progress.
Looking forward to seeing pix of the car soon; good luck. I'm sure Meg will do just fine.
Hopefully life will slow down enough for you to visit more often. Please keep us informed. Biff

Thanks for the update, Ken! We all hope Deb gets to feelin better soon. That's gotta be rough.
Ya'll am still in our thoughts and prayers.
But...aboot the Vette...are you sure yer gonna be able to drive that thang with paint on it, and an interior? Might be a steep learnin curve there, seeins how you been drivin it so long with NUTHIN...no color, no interior, etc. You better have the EMTs on standby for the shock you'll have when that part of it's finished!
Good luck, tho...it'll turn out fine.

I figure it will handle a bit differently with the smooth surfaces and increased weight, but I'm willing to take the chance.
Great to hear from you Ken. Sorry to hear about your wife's health problem. She is in our prayers. You have to be excited about the Vette. New paint is like having a new car. Can't wait to read about it and better yet...see it. Take care.

Nice to see you on for a while Ken! Although Debbie has been sick it sounds as though she is recovering and that is great.
Sounds good about getting your car into the shop. Time will pass by quickly once that happens. Warmer weather will be here soon and should make for some good working conditions towards your interior. Take care!Tuxblacray 2008-01-06 09:32:39

Ken,
We are all hoping Debbie makes a full recovery real soon. We know these have been difficult times. And we know good things are in your future.
Can't wait to see that bright RED Vette on the road. Best of luck with that part of the project.
