Cops have been doing this stuff for years. We used to do a really good "side" business with the local State Troupers back home(West Texas). Back then it was puttin Hemis in the Polaras, and 428 Cobra Jets in the LTDs. Ever been in a Police Cruizer goin 160, and not have to worry about gettin a ticket?

If it is true, it was probably purchased with siezed drug funds. It is perfectly legal under certain federal statutes as long as the vehicle is used for in the further enforcement of drug laws. It's hard to believe it was purchased with tax dollars since a sheriff is elected and is accountable to the taxpayers.

We used to have a C3 painted black and white complete with a light bar in the Summit County Sheriff dept.   The Tallmadge city DARE care is a true tube frame top fuel Caprice.  This thing is a true drag car, and can be driven on the street, and sort of still looks like a police cruiser, complete with light bar.  Keep in mind many local businesses donated for the build up project.  Summit Racing world headquarters is in Tallmadge.
