Today I took an ol friend for his last car ride. He used to love the car ride more than anything. Not now, not today... He was tired and and just didn't have the energy that he once did. His eyes once sparkled but now are a haunting shade of gray.
He wore his coat, the same one he has worn for years but it shows definate signs of distress and age. In some spots you might say it is worn clear thru to the skin.
He didn't have much to say although there were times in the past that he spoke none stop. Somtimes capturing the attention of drivers, passengers, and pedistrians around us.
I hope now he remembers those days gone by as I will. He's resting now in a better place. So long ol friend I sure am glad I was along for the ride with you...

Tux, that is truly a heartbreaker...my thoughts and sympathies go out to you. I know what it feels like. And you wrote an eloquent farewell to your friend...really, your family member.
Skip obviously provided you with many happy times. May the memories of those times together stay with you, for a very long time.

Sorry to hear the sad news, Larry. It's so hard to lose a pet. They
become such a great part of the family. With time comes healing. My
wife and I have had to put 2 dogs down. They were old and suffering
with sickness. It was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to
make.
When our 3 year old Sammi Mugly goes it will be the same thing. She's different from the others, but very special in her own way.
Our daughter wanted the dog to be in her wedding a few weeks ago. The wife said the church would not like that. I said get another church.

Larry,
I truly feel your pain. My cat that I've had since he was just a few weeks old (15 years ago) is getting close. A few weeks ago, I took him to the Vet in the Vette. The only time he ever leaves the house is to go to the vet, so he wasn't too happy, and since he's now blind, I guess he didn't know he was in the Vette (although the top was down). I told him that the crying he was doing was usually reserved for rides in Mustangs.
I took him to the vet with the thought that he would not be riding home with me. However, the doctor thinks he may make it for a while longer, and since he's not in any pain, I brought him home. I can't imagine how difficult it's going to be when he doesn't come home.
Know that all of us here are with you. Your story was put quite well.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
So sorry for your loss. It's so hard to have to say goodbye to our four legged family members. I have 2 buried out right by the barn, and I still say "hey" to em every day. Whenever I hear of someone else's loss, it makes me love the 4 that still share the house(and bed!) with me even more. They don't live long enough. Mike

Not much can I add to all that has been said... just amazing how we feel about our pets... "their" love is genuine and unconditional for sure and that's why it hurts so bad to lose them and that "LOVE"... at least you will always have the memories..
