Debbie went to the infectious illness doctor. The infection is truly gone, and he has released her from his care. She still needs to visit our family doc from time to time.
However, he also says the the way she is now is probably as good as it's going to get. Her mind is good as it ever was. But there is permanent brain damage. It has a minor effect on her memory. Most is still there. She is very unstable on her feet and requires a cain or something or someone to hold on to. She can make it from the van to a store, but then need an electric cart to get around. She is not strong enough to stay on her feet or lift much, so cooking is out, as are most if not all other house hold chores.
She can drive.
This could have turned out much worse. We met 35 years ago, and have been married 31 years. I still would not trade her for the world. Life is different and it's a lot more work for Megan and myself. But she is still here, and for that I am thankfull.
We are still a family. And my family still includes all of you. Sorry I have not been around much, and I will try to cure that, but she comes first. C3VR is still very high on my list.

Thanks for the update, Ken!
We all understand the need for priorities. "Mama" & kids ALWAYS come first, no matter what.
I'm glad she's gotten over the worst, and has been home for a while. Ya'll hang in there.
Be sure to give her a big ol' TEXAS

Ken,
Thanks for the update.
Very glad to hear that the infection is gone.
If you are going to be home on Oct. 15th, I'd love to stop by and say hecko.
I'll be on my way home from NCM.

ken thanks for the update, glad to here about Debbie's improvements and sorry to hear about her long term set backs. We never know how much the power of prayer or the human will can change things.
Have you looked into some sort of help with the household chores? Churches, community service clubs, respite services? hang ol timer, this is a valley to go through don't look at the hills ahead of you but take to time to see the beauty in the valley and enjoy it.

Ken,
It's been a long road. Now the uncertainty is gone and your mind can focus on improving your families qualiy of life. Blessings often are disguised and go unnoticed. God has blessed you and your family and may he continue to do so.

Thanks to everyone. The bottom line is this is now our life, and we will make the best of it. We still have and love each other, and there is nothing better than that.
Dave, I would love to have you stop by. That's a Sunday, and I do work at my part time job. So let me know what time you will be coming through. Perhaps I can make arrangements to get the time off. Let me know, I'm looking forward to it.
I know I'm late adding on here, but I just wanted to convey every best wish to you and your family, Ken, at this difficult time of change and new circumstances in your lives. You're always so helpful to everyone on this forum. We're lucky to have you as one of the leaders--and since you consider all of us as 'family', I for one feel fortunate to count myself among that number.
Stay as strong and positive in your outlook as you sound now. I know it must be tough at times, but you sure have your priorities straight, and that means a lot.
