I'm not sure what the size limit is, but if you are using .bmp switch to .jpg and you can cut the file size quite a bit.

I've never been able to upload anywhere near the 500kb limit!
I usually have to reduce my pics by at least 50% to get them loaded.
I just checked, and the largest file I have on my "home page" is 161kb, and it is a .jpg, as are most of them. Did you insert your quarter in the slot first?
