My colleagues here have been hit by a virus.  It has infected their whole network.

I have received it a couple of times and was tempted to click on it - but glad i didn't.

It comes in the form of a CNN news alert.  Both of the ones I received sounded like breaking news on current events.  It has a link and if you click on it, you get the virus.

The first one I got, I went to CNN and did not see the headline, so I knew it was bogus.

So don't open anything from CNN.  delete the e-mail then empty your deleted items folder.

This really got me. It took forever to get it worked out. My computer wouldn't even load up.......it gave me fits.........be careful!

Snopes calls BS on it...tho there is one that is very similar. The "CNN" one is supposedly not real...for what it's worth.
Just proves why I NEVER, EVER open anything from anyplace I didn't ask for...

btw...I've been getting these on the puter at work for the past 2-3 weeks...they go straight to the "Junk" folder, as they should. I look at the titles, and then delete...Adams' Apple2008-08-19 19:16:28

AVG is a good program, especially for being free.

It took a couple of hours for me to d-load the AVG at home w/dial-up... Well worth it, tho, IMHO.
I loaded the newer AVG8.0 here at the shop, and it has the anti-spyware built in, but I'm not sure it's as good a program as the older version. It takes forever to get the updates, even on DSL...

I was getting the bogus CNN messages at work for a week, then they switched to MSNBC and a couple of others.
