The car I drove to learn how to drive was my parents 1963 Riviera!!!! They must have had a lot of trust in me! Which soon faded with my first car, a 1953 Chevy BelAir 2 door. 6 cyl. Painted metallic Royal Blue. Chrome wheels with baby moons. The seats still had the plastic on them! $175.00 is what I paid for it. Well, they were not happy with my "speed demon" ways and took that car away from me and got me a 1963 Pontiac Tempest 4 banger and was told if I lead footed this car, my next will have a lawn mower engine! LOL I soon found out that the 15 inch wheels and independent suspension was great for mild 4-wheelin' in the woods. LOL LOVED that car. For my graduation present, in 1972, they bought me a 1965 Impala SS which I had up until a couple of years ago.
Oops. The question was "what was your first car". I got a bit carried away, so I won't tell you of all the cars I've had to date! lol

You guys were still wearing 3-cornered pants when I got my first. It was a '51 Pontiac "Torpedo Back" 6 cyl 3spd that I paid $45 for. Every weekend I would take something else apart to see how it worked. The car never went far, but I learned volumes from it!Finally chopped the back off and made it into a truck. Then came a Corvair and a Volvo.
First 'vette was a '65 coupe 327/300 hp 4 spd. that I bought for $3000. and did a mild custom job on. After 3 or 4 yrs and 100,000 miles I sold it for $3500.Anyone care to tell me what it would be worth today?
After that was a 69 roadster with 2 tops 427/390.Had to sell it for the first of two kids.
Oh well, I'd probably squander the money on something foolish!!

1968 Olds Cutlass S: 2 door, Rally Red, black vinyl top, black interior, 350 2bbl, TH350 tranny, "Cherry bomb" mufflers bolted to the headers. Crager SST's w/50's on the back and "pizza cutter" size tires on the front. Blew the engine racing a dude in a '76 Monte. Not a very cool moment. But it was a pretty cool car.

'61 Impala, 2 door post! I never knew until a few years ago that it was a limited production, most of the 61's had the bubble back glass. 283, 2 barrel 185h.p.
It would do 80 in low range!
'68 Javelin SST 343, 4 barrel, would outrun a GTO. I had to let it go when I got drafted.
1st new car, 70 Nova. 307, 3speed in floor, medium blue with rallys.
First vette was a 66 I drug out of a field for $600

First car....1975 Corvette Coupe, White 350 L48 Factory except Rusters, now replaced with Headers
. got it when I was 19 for more than it was worth and have been running it every chance I get since then. (All two years...almost) Learning a LOT from the car and having a lot of fun with it.

1969 Pontiac GTO, 350 4bbl, midnight green with black interior, Pontiac mags, dual exhaust. That was a really fun car. From there, I picked up a used silver 1976 Corvette that went through a few mod's (see below)
It was at that point that I learned what REAL fun was/is!

Vette(s): "86", "89", and finally an "81" Red/Tan. I call her "Sweet Pea".
Hahahaaa...when I was "15" (drove a year n'1/2 before I was ever stopped and forced to get a license) in "62"...I bought a 53 Pontiac 4 door "straight 8" automatic for $50 bucks. I ran it for 8 or 9 months before it gave up th' Ghost. I couldn't understand why it wouldn't move anymore..the engine ran fine. It had been getting real sluggish just before that point. When I finally talked to a mechanic (service stations had them in those days) he asked how my tranny fluid was. I searched high and low under the hood for something to check it with. Couldn't find a thing. Finally I swallowed my pride and asked the mechanic where to check it. To my suprise...the "dip stick" was under the "hump" carpet on the drivers side. You lifted a carpet tab and there it was. When I pulled the stick, it was dry as a bone...and the end was stained blue/black from the heat. Almost as confusing as where they hid the battery in a "55" lincoln Capri...my second car. Anybody hazard a guess where that was??

I started saving every penny from the time I was 12 years old so I could buy a Honda 305 scrambler bike when I turned 16. Having an older brother I saw that you can't go cruising with friends, especially in the winter, on a motorcycle so I raised the bar a little and decided I would save for a car. At 16 I had the cash! $3300. Bought a brand new 69 GTO. 4 speed, 3.90 posi, AM radio!, and a BENCH seat so all the girls I would take out could sit next to me!(High hopes!) Liberty blue with black interior. Put a set of Cragers on it and Mickey Thompson headers. 4 years later I sold it to buy a big block 70 Nova. I've had Chevys ever since. Mike
Mine was a '76 Chevy Vega. It was a pretty cool car at the time considering it was my first. It ended up going to the scrap after the rear part of the frame gave way, I did keep the Vega emblems from it for memories. My next was a 1977 Buick LeSabre with a 403, 4 barrel in it, although it was a boat it did have quite a bit more balls than the Vega. That was followed by a new Cutlass Calais 2 door in 1986, sold that piece of crap 8 months later and got a Pontiac 6000 s/e. I'm now driving a 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo when my '76 stingray is put away in the garage.
