What a great question!
I was a very fortunate kid growing up that my Dad was (and still is) a need for speed freek. He bought an 1987 Chevy Silverado w/a 350 CI that he gave me to drive. He really bought it to pull our car trailer that brought 8 GTO's, a '78 pace car, a 40 Ford coupe (and some other ones that I know I'm forgetting) home to restore. That was how I spent my nights and weekends for the most of my youth.
But when I became a senoir in High School...he let me pick my 1st car . It was a brand new 1989 Ford Mustang GT. Now before you all start hatein' that was the car to have in my town in that day...the Vette's were still expensive.
Man...the memories...races...girls...races...girls.................sorry got lost there for a minute.
But, honestly...and I mean this with all my heart...having restored, driven, and loved many cars Dad and I did, the '73 vette I have now is my favorite by far. It's the first corvette I've ever had and the first play car I have ever bought.....she stole my heart from the first look.
Man...aren't we all soooo lucky!
God bless America....and thank God for old vette's!

My first car was a 1953 Studebaker Commander, Baby Blue. It would do 95 MPH in 2nd gear with overdrive and about 96 in high. We could drive all night on two bucks worth of gas. Thinking about that old car really brings back some good old memories.

My first was a 1952 Chevy, 2 door. I paid $15 for it.
I had to carry jugs of water in the back because it overheated so much. It had no battery in it, so I always parked on an incline so I could jump start it. I had no keys for it, back then you didn't need the key if the switch was not put in lock before removing it.
The gas guage didn't work, had to guess when to put fuel in. The drivers door window was missing. Every time we went out in it was an adventure
.
Would you believe, someone stole it
I described it to the police and they wanted to know if
I wanted them to really look for it.
They found it the next day, someone just took it for a ride.
When they brought it back to the police station all the cops had to come out and have a laugh
.
I dove it for 6 months and sold it for $25, Made $10 on it.

My first car was given to me by my father in 1977 when he changed his car. It was an Olds Cutlass 68, 4 door, Rocket 350 ci 2 bbl high compression, 2 speed automatic transmission. I restored it as new in 1977, stored it for winter and took it out in May 78. I put 20,000 miles on it in a year. Replaced it by a 75 Firebird Esprit 350 ci 4 bbl 3 speed automatic transmission in May 79. In fact, I'm 47 and my vette is only my 5th car (I got it in September 2003). Of my 5 cars, 3 had a GM 350 ci. Memories....
The year was 1976 and the vehicle was a 1957 Chevrolet 1/2 pickup with a 6 cylinder and 3 speed on the column. Later it had an Olds 350CI and Turbo 400. Got bored, put 4x4 running gear under it, a Chev 350CI and a 4 speed with a NP 205 transfer case. Truck is sitting out in my driveway right now waiting for its next transformation! Could be awhile as the C3 seems to be taking all my disposable income lately!

My first pride and joy was a 71 Fiat T-Coupe, leaked every fluid freely, did not have heat or a drivers window. I actually used it to commute over 200 miles for a while.
