Where were you when you first heard about the what had happened in New York?
I was teaching a Visual Basic programming class. One of my students, for some reason, was surfing the internet during class, and saw the news article. When we took our mid-morning break, he told everyone about it.

Vette(s): Re-acquired 1982 Bright Blue Vette from the guy a sold it to 13 years ago. 1993 40th Anniv. Ruby Convertible- purchased for my wifes 40th birthday-It has Chromed Grand Sport Wheels, Grand Sport Flares and a functional rollbar.
Was getting ready for work and watching the morning talk shows. Saw the second plane hit and then hung around awhile and saw the towers collapse. I remember hearing a report about some reporter calling a law firm on one of the floors above where the plane hit. Reporter asked some brilliant question like "What's going on" or "How do you feel" or something like that and the voice on the other end of the phone said " We're f____g dying up here. How do you think we feel?" and he hung up. Really sad day.

I was at Steve's place, I'd just turned on the shower. He said he was going to turn on the news. I said, yea baby, let's see what's going on in the world? I haven't, nor can I ever say that sentence again. Everyone have their lights on today? I saw alot of folks with them off...

I was walking towads the locker room in our gym. I saw a bunch of students gathered around the tv. Rushed home only to find that the cable was out so I broke out the rabbit ears to see what was going on.

As I walked into the office a little before 8 o'clock (Central Time) a coworker asked if I had heard about what had just happened in New York (he'd heard a news flash on the radio). Spent most of the morning surfing the net for info along with most of the other people on the floor. Just before noon an announcement came across the P.A. that the building was going to be evacuated (all the tall office buildings in the Twin Cities were cleared out that afternoon). Spent most of the rest of the day in total disbelief about what I was seeing on the TV.
For the next several days it was erie to go out for a walk with the dog, especially after dark. We live near the western edge of the air traffic control area for the Twin Cities airport and usually have a lot of aircraft flying overhead. The silence was deafening. Every once in awhile I'd hear the snarl of a fighter that was flying top cap, but that was it.

For myself it was kind of ironic where I was....I was pulling some active duty days up at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station when this all started. It started as a typical quiet morning, sipping on some coffee getting ready to go do a little aircraft maintance. When all of the sudden one of our guys (practical joker) come flying into the shop shouting about a plane crashing into the WTC. Well unfortunately he wasn't joking that day. We watched the TV in horror and anger as the 2nd aircraft was flown into the other tower. The "Threatcon" went from "Normal" to "Delta" in a very short time. There was a lot of pissed off Airmen that morning. I think if we all had our own private fighter jets we would have probably started World War 3. I will never forget what those "towel head" ba---rd's did.

BTW- Don't patronize the local 7-11's. Most I know around my area are run by "towel heads."

I was off work that day and was watching ABC when the news reports started and saw the whole thing. I'll certainly never forget it.

Sleeping in my dorm room just across the river, my roommate shook me out of bed and told me I had to go to the window in the lounge....so I was standing there in my boxers watching in tears as they came down.
Hard time, but America still is.

Wow Scott....didn't know that you saw that scene in person....I would've been so scared, it was so unbelieveable that people can do such things to each other. I was totally shocked out here on the left coast, still kinda shocked that it happened at all. Like a bad dream or a bad movie.

In reference to terrorist/ al Qaeda. I'm sure that you all probably heard about the 6 men arrested in Lackawanna, NY. Well......that is the next suburb over from me. Maybe 5 miles away. Kind of unnerving to know they were literaly in your own back yard.
