My wife and I went to see World Trade Center yesterday.
It was really well done, but holy crap was it sad. Even though we know how the whole story goes, it is told from the perspective of one officer that was trapped in the rubble and resuced. When it was over and people were leaving the theater, it felt like we were leaving a funeral home.
And ever since my son was born, I've been extra sensitive to issues dealing with parents and their children... so all the references about his kids wondering if they'd ever see their dad again made me cry. Yeah, I'll admit it. I cried. That's how well done the movie was (and what a sap I am).
I'm not sure I can recomend seeing it because it is so sad and horrible to watch these people go through the ordeal, and having to relive the feelings of that day was hard. Like I said, it was really well done, just really sad.

Adam, Having a heart and feeling compassion for your fellow man doesn't make you a sap. The WTC 9/11 incident touched home with me and my family. I was born in NY, I've been looking at the Towers since they were built, my wifes cousin, who is a commander in the NYPD, my brother-in-law, and my best friend since 5th grade, were all at the WTC when they were hit. They all made it out OK, but it's something that we'll never forget.
Hopefully, this movie will rekindle the anger and the patriotism that so many Americans displayed for the first few months. It now seems that many of us are either making, or accepting excuses that prevent us from being much more effective on the war on Terrorism. I would not feel an once of remorse, if we brought our soldiers home and nuked the crap out of the Middle East. Better yet, let our military fight the war unrestricted without criticism, and you'll see the BS stop.

This is a subject I think should be left to documentaries rather than commercial endeavors.

Cookie, I couldn't agree with you more. I was 2 blocks from the towers at my desk when they fell, on the 97th Floor of tower 2 in the '93 bombing - aside from a vacation in Iraq in 2003. My heart is irrepairable after the fall of the towers - but I will still go to see this movie - it's about survival and it's based on real people - heros - from that tragic day.
Adam, I got choked up just watching the previews. A human sheds tears over a tragedy such as this, and human were are all.
I also heard that some of the proceeds were being donated to the families of the fallen. Well done Mr. Stone.

Ben, I agree. There is a video actually a documentary, made by 2 French brothers. Originally, they were filming a story on a NYFD rookie, and they happened to be filming when the WTC was hit. They sure got more than the bargained for. As a matter of fact, one of the brothers was missing for awhile while filming the NYFD in action. Blockbuster has the tape. I thought it was pretty good.

let me add " rather than commercial and political endeavors"
About the video made by the two French brothers: I saw it and it is pretty interesting. No BS, just facts. No much comments. I wish you get a chance to watch it.
I have mixed feeling about seeing the movie- but after reading everyones comments - I may pass for now. I worked on the 96 FL Tower 2- luckly I was not in the office that day - I lost my entire department , my brother-in -law and friends of 25 years. My company lost 198 employees. I am still reminded daily of my losses and can not emagine a spouse or child's loss. I'll stop for now - before I get real angry -
