Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
so i gots me a question about the chromie.  it seems to leak all of the power steering fluid out if it has been sitting for a little while, not i would love to drive it everyday that is just not an option.  so when i get around to looking at the front end what would be the usual suspects.
Thanks for the info.

Larry;

So, are we talking about original lines/hoses/pump?  Or have they been worked on recently?

4 main connections on two lines from the pump and several more on the cylinder.

Need more info, please

The 'Usual Suspects" would be every single part of the system...
Most likely, it will be the PS control valve leaking, or the cylinder(ram).
If it is the control valve, or the ram...or even the pump, there is an additive that WILL stop the leak, AND do no damage. I would'a never believed it meself, but I put some in the '74 before the Hot Springs trip, and that turd ain't leaked a DROP since. Sure is nice to be able to walk around the car and not see a 3 foot trail of fluid runnin across the garage floor!

All 3 of my C3 have leaked Power Steering fluid every spring for the last 15 to 20 years...The problem with all of mine is that control valve seals dry out ..and will leak ...gave up rebuilding with regular seals, went to aircraft seals ..gave up onthat bought a few replacement valves  and TODAY...I just let them leak and drive them about 200 miles in the spring and..WALA the seals swell and they stop leaking until I park them for the winter again...

Seriously... for the last 10 years or so I have not done anything except fill the PS pump with fluid drive the cars a couple hundred miles fill the pump again and forget about the leak for another year...none leak at all during my driving season... ...

Well...I don't know about it stopping any DIPS, but it will stop the leaks!

I fergot to go look in da garage for the name of the snake-oyl...I'll run across to Pep-Gurls and see what it is, and post it later. Unless Dwain(longhorn294) can remember...he's the one that turned me on to it. I was skeptical at first, but, I really had nothing to loose in trying it. Worked out great.

A year or so ago, my 72 started leaking power steering fluid and I was sure I was going to have to start replacing parts.Unhappy  All power steering componets are original.  I went to the local parts store and bought some Gold Eagle Power Steering Stop Leak.  On the bottle it says it's from the makers of STA-BIL.  OLA, It hasen't leaked a drop since.Big%20smile  I'm sure all of the major oil blenders have a power steering fluid stop leak.  Sure worked for me!Thumbs%20Up

It is indeed simply called No Leak, put out by Gold Eagle...the same company that makes Stabil, and 104 Octane Boost...
Clear, plastic bottle, shaped similar to an engine oil plastic bottle. I got mine frum Pep-Gurls, but I'm sure other places will have it...
