Re: Crossfire1982, (beautiful Vette by the way), the Eckler's lamps only work in the existing sockets, which means they, too, will only work on the outboard lamp positions. It doesn't address the other part of defsegx's question about four functional tail lamps. The answer is still going to involve a conversion of the back-up lamp position sockets to the tail lamp sockets. The difference is in the pins on the lamps. Look at an 1157, which is a dual element bulb, meant for your tail lamps; one element is for parking lamp, the other is brighter, for brake/turn signal function. Now look at the 1156 bulb: only one element, because it only does one thing. The sockets are only for their respective bulbs. To convert, you need to get two more tail lamp sockets. This is why I went with the bubble-lens four-way tail lamp conversion kit first, then bought LED bulbs for them.
I think the lamps on the Ecklers site are a great way to brighten up two tail lamps, but they won't work for four without modification like I mentioned above. You can't simply disconnect the back-up leads and jumper them in-line with the tail lamps; that won't work. You literally need two more tail lamp sockets AND jumper them in line with the existing tail lamps.
Hope this clears it up.
