All,

For the last couple years I have been working my way through my first corvette project. It's a 1969 convertible, 350/350 with no options.

I have a question regarding the LH & RH markings on exhaust manifolds. Not sure how I missed it during my install, but I just noticed that both of my exhaust manifolds have RH markings on them. Other than the obvious incorrectness, are there any physical or technical differences that could create flow issues or other problems?

p.s. Everything fit together & bolted up nicely...probably why I didn't notice.

Mike, I just check my original 74 manifolds ............both are the same part number and of course both say RH on them. Here is a link to my project:

Hey Mike welcome to the club..I got pics of my manifolds that I took a few years ago when I got my car..depending on your build date they may or not be the same as mine..mine is a December 5th of 69....and..

I forgot to mention also that I have and air injection pump also..I have seen our cars with and without the air fittings in the manifold so that may make a difference as well..I didn't check the AIM to see what part numbers were used for the different build dates for our car but can if you really want to know. As far as fit it really doesn't matter..it would take a good bit to notice if they are number correct or not..and may not even matter to you..enjoy the ride!! BTW..would love to see some pics of the restoration ..that never gets old!!

Thanks for the input. This site seems be very knowledgeable. I don't think I am going to stress to much about it. I have been trying to keep it as correct as possible, but it sure is hard to reconstruct with so many parts that were changed out way before I had her.

I will post up some pics when I figure out how to do that.

If your engine is a L46 (350/350) and your manifolds are original, the left number should be 3872765 and the right 3932461.

The numbers on mine are 3932481. Build date on the car was around July 22, '69.

Exhaust manifold part numbers will not, by themselves, tell you if they are original. You need the date codes for that. The manifolds were usable for many year model cars, with few design changes, so the part numbers may not have changed for different year models. Some years, depending on equipment(A/C, PS, etc.) used the same manifold on both sides. Don't count on the "RH" and LH" actually meaning the manifold will only work on that side. If it fits, and functions properly, it's fine. If you plan on having the car judged, I still wouldn't worry about it....you can't really see all the numbers anyway, so it will be judged on appearance, for the most part.
