This evening I took the drive door window out, along with all the guts attached to it (no, I don't think I'll ever get it back together again...). The reason for the disassembly is in the picture.
Notice the top teeth on the gear - they are chipped. This was preventing the window from rolling all the way up. Does anyone know of a source to replace this unit? I've only been able to find parts for power windows online so far. Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated!
John
I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...
I found this link to a used part- I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Update - I just finished putting everything back together (was afraid I would forget how). Now I know what parts to order to make it work great (although the window does work better now than it did before - progress, I guess). Still looking for sources/experiences on replacing the regulator. I'll follow up when/if I find a good source.

Btw, I was apprehensive about this project. But after taking everything out and putting it back together, it's not bad at all. Just really messy! I also learned that this would have been the ideal time to replace the lock cylinder. You have lots more room to work with everything on the inside of the door out. I'll do everything at once when I do the passenger side.
Another update/fyi - I called the company at the link above. It is a used part, but they don't have any in stock. I can't believe there isn't a demand for these things? Oh well. I might try using some JB Weld to build the chipped teeth back up.
John,
Give Keith a call @ Corvell Automotive. He has a good selection of used parts. He helped me out w/ an exhaust manifold.

John,
A friend of mine who has a goldmine of C3 parts has a window regulator...probably 30 0f them. I told him about some of you guys needing one....$75 plus shipping which shouldn't be much. IM me if you're interested.
Ken - thanks for the tip. I won't go the JB Weld route. I talked with a guy who can weld and he said he'd weld it for me.
Jim - thanks for the offer! I'll try welding it first. If that doesn't work out, I'll let you know!
