Does anyone know what the block casting CE 072494 is?  I can't find it listed.  I read something about "crate engine", if engine is replaced while under warranty.  But don't really know what that the 072494 numbers mean.   The sales slip and the stickers etc. say the motor is supposed to be 427/435 if that helps.

Thanks !!

Where are you seeing this number? The casting # is at the back of the block.

The CE stood for "Chevrolet Engineering". It was used for replacement engine assemblies.

The number is on the passenger side of the block, below the head.
