I’m so glad to have found this site!

I’m new to the Corvette world. My “new to me” Corvette actually kind of fell in my lap. I’ve been a back yard mechanic as long as I can remember. My first car (at 16) was a 1965 Corvair and to keep it running I had to learn how to fix it.  Now I like to work on cars for fun, it’s my stress release.

My Corvette is a 72, bryar blue, coupe with a 350 and automatic. The odometer says 6853 miles but I believe that it is maybe 106853 miles. I purchased the car from a client of mine (he was not the original owner). It sat in a metal building, out in the country for the last 10 years. It wasn’t running when I picked it up (trailered it home), he says it was running when he parked it.

It’s in decent shape, a lot of work was done to it right before it was parked. All of the suspension looks new as well as the exhaust and brakes. The interior looks good and I can tell that the car was repainted once in its life, it shines up very nicely.

I spent my first weekend trying to figure out why it would not start (turn the key nothing). Turns out it was the engine wiring harness, so I replaced that along with the battery, starter, alternator and a number of other smaller items. Now it runs, but poorly, so the next project is to replace the fuel tank, carb, intake manifold, tires (dry rotted), and a number other items under the hood.

The photo attached is when I first got it home, it still had all the dust still on it. I have a lot of fun to look forward to!

Welcome aboard...!!!  LOTS of good threads to research for answers to things you'll come across as you work your way through the car.  And if you don't find an answer don't be shy about asking a question!

WELCOME! To a fellow 72' owner. Nice color, and great choice for a "new" ride. Check out the other threads. Many great people here. Somebody Always has a answer to the multitude of questions you may have. Great friends and team members. Stick around, you won't regret it.

Do the carb or intake manifold need replacing or are you wanting to Tim Allen it a little (More Power!).

More power and to clean up the engine bay a bit. Someone in it's past life decided it was a good idea to paint everything orange under the hood and did not mask off anything, looked horrible!  Sometime in the future I may pull the motor and really upgrade it.
