Vette(s): Never owned one but looking to buy.
I have had a lot of Chevys and currently own five but never a vette, then the wife decided she wanted to get one. I have been doing a lot of reading and have figured the C3 is the best choice for us. In particular the 82 model is what I am looking to buy. The fuel injection with a 700r seems to be a good cruiser.
Looking foward to getting a car and learning more about them.

Welcome to the Shark tank. Hope you find a good one. There's a lot of great people here with a lot of knowledge and experience. Everyone is happy to help one another.

The C3 is a great car to own. While the later C4, C5 and C6 are more technologically advanced, the C3 are, at least to my way of thinking, the last Corvettes an average shade tree mechanic can turn a wrench on himself without super expensive computer tools. Plus, the styling is like no other car.

Again...welcome.

"The wife decided she wanted one"?!!
By golly, lets make her happy and get one!!!
I've got a '74, and an '85. I'll take the Shark over ANY of them!! Easy to work on, cheaper(in most cases) for parts, and, as Gunslinger states, you just can't beat the styling of a Shark!

Buy the best one you can afford, no matter what the year. Good luck with your search, and keep us posted on what you run across!!

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs

great rules of thumb as told to me

* Everything you see that needs to be fixed, you will fix

* Everything you see that you want to change, you will change

* Add 2000.00 for the things you dont see

This math worked for me...   Dont rule out the other bowl backs either.  I wanted an 82 and bought an 81.  The TH350c with lock up is a nice tranny plus its an easier motor ro tweak.  GOOD LUCK!  Kevin.

You are a very lucky man...

Don't be in a hurry to buy the first one you see. There are a lot of nice cars out there. Get someone who's really familiar with C3's to help you check it out.
