Vette(s): 1974 coupe. 350 CID with Turbo 400 trans. Decal says 8.5:1 compression. Needs paint and AC replaced but don't plan on full restoration. Car runs strong. No big problems so far. 67,000 miles on Odometer, probably rolled over

Just to update. I have;
1974 Corvette Coupe
350 engine with Turbo 400 Trans.
The car runs good. The suspension seems tight, New exhaust, The Motor has been rebuilt. Most things seem to work ok, Headlights, etc.
Birdcage seems to be ok. A little rust but still seems solid.
I have no idea if the engine is original. The block was decked and the Numbers milled off. They didn't bother restamping the SN. Other stamping number indicate the motor is the right year "range" so it may be.
Only issue with the Motor is previous owner snapped of the outer bolt boss on the block where the starter installs. It is only the portion where the Bolt knurl fits. I had to replace the Flexplate/flywheel and starter because of badly chipped teeth. I have been able to get the starter to hold and line up OK but I don't know how long that will last. If I hear it getting noisy I'll have to reset it. It's just something to worry about I s'pose.
Interior is in fair condition. Seats have been replace with vinyl but they are in good condition. I would like to replace the door panels and a few other misc. items. Carpet is so so. I want to install heat barrier in the floor. It gets hot in there,

Air Conditioning is gone. All the Dash components are still there but Condenser and Compressor have been removed. It is one thing I would like to replace. Plumbing seems to be all there.
So there you have it
Here's a couple pictures for your enjoyment.

It has been over a year since I started. I had to quit the project so
the car just sat in the garage. I was able to get started again in May 2012. As of July 27 2012 I have done the fiberglass repairs and applied Slick Sand High Build Primer.

Welcome back, Bill. Good luck on your restoration... it's a lot of work, but well worth it.

Welcome back! What color are you going to paint it? You should have come to the Gathering last month in Charleston, SC! If you play guitar like in your profile picture, you could've been the entertainment! (just don't let me sing!
)

Thanks for the welcome back
I am starting to find little problems. Lap Seat belt retractor is completely rusted both seats. All the wiring to the seat belts is gone, although that really doesn't bother me. Outside mirror mount was screwed into fiberglass only, no mounting backing plate. All of the emissions control equipment has been removed. No air pump, no canisters, etc. as mentioned before no AC. all the mounting brackets are missing too. I seem to be missing parts too. Things like the door insulation, heat shields, some of the mounting hardware for the bumpers. The front bumper is missing all the backer plates and is glued to the body. I could not remove it. Horn inoperable, Wipers are not working, they worked before. But I am sure these are minor issues and can be fixed.
One good thing there are no cracks in the body. One minor stress crack about one inch long in the top of the rear fender, right in the corner but I think it will be fine. There's a little filler here and there but nothing major.
The front end fiberglass has been replaced. It appears to be a one piece front end.
I'm not sure how to address the outside mirror mounting problem. There is no way to get in there and without some kind of backing plate I don't know how well it will hold up just screwing it to the fiberglass..
Oh well
I'll keep working at it.
I realized today that I can't remember where all the parts go. It's like a puzzle but I do have two restoration books and the GM assembly manual to go by.
Oh! you asked what color.
I think it was originally a silver. has been repainted white.
It has a black interior
I am thinking a dark red.
I guess I should move this posting to the discussion area.

If you decide you are going to replace all that smog stuff I may have a line on where you can get most if not all of it.
