ago). Here in LA, a car is taken every 2 seconds - from parking lots to
driveways - day and night. So, I was planning on putting in an alarm that
disables the ignition when the alarm is triggered. All the security people
tell me a small blinking light is at least a warning signal to would be
theives, but everyone at the corvette shop tells me I'm blowing the value
by having a light drilled ANYWHERE in the dash (the light is only the size
of a bad pimple)...any thoughts? Thanks.
You might want to install a fuel cutoff switch..that's what I did & the car doesn't go very far when it can't eat. These old vets are very easy to hot wire even when you install ignition cutouts...

[/QUOTE]Many Thanks, The fuel cutoff is a great tip - I'll feel alot better with this
kind of system - I had heard that the ignition switch cut-off wasn't
foolproof. As for the light, why not? Could save me a broken window (or
two).
You should be able to find a spot for the LED that does not require drilling or anything destructive to the car. For example, you could stick the wire leads to to the LED in a crack somewhere, for example, where the upper and lower console meet, then complete the wiring on the back side, leaving it held in by the leads being wedged in the crack. Of course, this approach has the LED sticking out more than if mounted through a hole, but you can find all sizes and shapes of LEDs and you can probably be much more creative than this quick idea I had. Good luck!
Love the Vette by the way. That is an extremely cool shade of green!

I hate big cities...don't much like any of them. I knew there was a reason.

Does the CLUB work or do the thieves have all the keys?
How about a hidden switch under the dash that disables the engine?
Sometimes a security decal on the window will deter them.

drilling for the LED. My early 280Z was stolen with a club on it, they did
just what Tumarr said, cut the wheel (I got the car back 2 weeks
later, stripped to the bone-they even cracked the dash to get to a cheap
stereo). Think I'll do both the ignition kill (with blinking light) and secret
fuel line toggle (gotta ask my mechanic about doing that one). A neighbor
told me that the Lojack system ( atracking device the cops can trigger if
the car is reported stolen) is only $700. installed with no further fees, no
monthly charges at all. Seems cheap considering I just sank almost 7k
into getting the green machine back on her wheels and on the road. It
maybe overkill to do all 3 systems, but like dwright said, "a stolen car
would be devestating". Better safe than driving a Ford. Oh, and a tip of
the glass to Lynn73 & Chesh for the kind words on "Zodiac" the green
machine. I get a thrill looking at all the purdy C3's on this forum, fine
rides one and all! May the gloomy days pass soon chesh!
As for the ultimate safeguard, yea, I'd leave LA in a second - but work
keeps me chained to the jungle (music industery)....but you guys are right
- Traffic and crime don't make for a good time.
