Thanks Adam! I'm currently deployed in AFG, and I bought a 78 Pace Car from eBay a few weeks ago that is currently waiting for me in a garage at my parents' house in Ohio. They say it's beautiful inside and out. It is equipped with 4-speed/L82, cloth interior, blue tinted T-tops, and has 60K miles. I wanted a car that I could drive rather than park in my living room and look at.
I live in Germany, but I don't know for how long yet. I'm sort of torn on whether to have it shipped to Germany or not. It would be a blast to take it on the Autobahn and maybe to the Nurburgring Nordschleife. I know the 78s aren't anywhere near the top performing years for Vettes, but it would still be cool.
Anyway, I probably won't be very active on your site until I redeploy early next year. We work long and hard hours here.
Thanks for the warm welcome from you and the other members!
Welcome to the C3VR family, Alan (AJOlsen).

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Welcome Alan
I presume you are in the military. So if you shipped it over the Gov would ship it back. It would cost a little to get it over there. An option that may make it work for you is to ship it over sell it and buy one when you get back. Specialty Vets any year are priced higher overthere. I have a friend that has sold a number of them to Europeans and ships them all the time. It is from San Diego so I would assume shipping from the East Coast would be cheaper. If you want me to ask him what it a typical price send me an email.
I'm retired military working for the military as a government civilian employee. You are right, the government will ship one car back at their cost, which works fine if you only have one car. I already have have two cars that I'll be bringing back, so shipping the Vette over and back would be all on me. I don't foresee selling this Vette until the only thing I can drive is a wheelchair. I see a few Vettes in Germany, but not many, and never a Pace Car of any year. I'd like to know what shipper your friend uses for his overseas shipping, if he endorses any particular one. Thanks!
