Vette(s): 79 L-82 4-speed. Original block now a 383 with aluminum heads, roller cam and rockers, Edelbrock intake, MSD distributor and ignition module, Speed Demon 650 carb. Rebuilt and upgraded all steering and suspension.
Thanks for the warm welcome for a newbie to the site! I recently bought a 79 L-82 4-speed that in the last five years has been repainted, reupholstered, engine rebuilt, (with a "mild" cam but no specs provided) long tube headers, no cats and Flowmaster. Am considering replacing stock heads, intake manifold and Q-Jet. Thinking about cast iron Vortec heads with roller. Can you recommend the best intake to match? Holley versus Demon carb or another? Should I spring the extra bucks for aluminum AFR or Trick Flow heads? If so, what manifold? I will also replace the cam while in there. Any recommendations so it is optimized? I like a bit of a lope at idle but not enough to cause idle problems. Car will be street only and while not daily driver will be driven often.
I appreciate your advice. Thanks.

I had Edelbrock heads, performer rpm manifold and carb combo on a 327 that I had in my 79 for a while. Great combo and she was a screamer!!
Needed to use a low profile air cleaner with that manifold to clear the factory hood.

Thanks for your reply. Looks like you have gone way beyond that with your current set up. Thanks also for your service to our country. I am a veteran of Viet Nam (twice) and Desert Storm. Hooah!

I was on the flightline at MacGuire AFB for Desert Storm when they called the ground war over. We were told that we could either demobilize or go to Kuwait and do PMCS for the next 6-12 months. Guess what we decided!!
