Thanks for the nice welcome, gang. Great forum. Hey cilrah - I lived in Lacy, WA for about a year and a half after I got back from overseas back in '70. Loved it out there. Hope to visit again someday. Be a nice cruise from Michigan with the vette

Craig

Here are a few shots the vette, and my new garage toy..

Great that you became a member and great looking '82.
Now tell me about your lift.
Brand name?
Cost?
Delivery?
Installation?
Change to your overhead door?
Ceiling height of garage?
I need all the details.

Lovin my lift !  I always wanted one, and Janet said "go for it". Thanks for the complements on the car. Can't wait for spring (8 degrees out as we speak  Here's the scoop on the lift:

It's a Direct Lift ProPark 7 purchased through Greg Smith Equipment. They are going for $1895 and include the caster set, drip pans, jack tray, and long steel ramps. Runs on 110VAC and also fits my Chevy Silverado extended cab short box pickup.

Delivery from Indy to Mason, Michigan was $194 to a local trucking terminal, where they unloaded it, held it, and loaded it onto my trailer for no charge (most will do the good-will thing, which is great). Didn't even use their trucking company.

Installation was a breeze. Unloading it from the trailer was a bit of a grunt, but two of us did it very carefully. Three or four guys and it's a snap. All I had to buy was three gallons of hydraulic oil for about $15.

My garage is just a few inches shy of ten feet. I can bring the vette to within four or five inches of the ceiling, and get our Camry under it with about two inches clearance. Whew! I added about twenty inches of track to the vertical rails and pushed the whole mechanism almost tight to the ceiling. Removed the opener, of course. I had to move the lifting cables from the torsion rod up the side of the doors the same twenty inches to keep my spring working properly. Now only two door panals end up on the horizontal track, so it doesn't even get close to the roof of the vette.

Wayne-Dalton makes a special closer that mounts easlily to the torsion bar ($260), so you could have an opener if you wanted. Since I have two garage doors, I didn't bother, since I kept the opener on the other one.

By the way, the ProPark 7 is their narrow unit with 92 inches between the posts. I have to fold my truck mirrors when I use it for that vehicle, but a small consideration for not having the thing take up too much room in the garage.

Sure is cheaper than another garage stall. All I can say is if you can somehow afford it, do it. If sometime down the road you don't need it, it won't be hard to get your money back. And just think of how many "tech nights" you can have at your place
