Vette(s): 1982 Corvette In South Eastern PA. Bright blue with original engine and Carrol Shelby cyclone wheels.
Thank you for the welcomes! I live in S.E. PA and just bought my first corvette. Ownership has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid - so, I finally bit the bullet and now I have a bright blue, 1982 corvette with the original engine (56K on in). After driving around on a couple nice days, I have knocked some of the rust off (the car had been sitting for 6 months or so) and fixed mine issues (tightened down the manifolds, leak in the power steering and new pcv value). Today, I found out that I had a bad Heater Core which is how I found the forum. I am by no stretch a mechanical guy, but was able to follow one post and bypassed the Heater Core by tying the fuel pump to the manifold intake. The guy who had the car last, did a bunch of work to the engine so, it was not as cut and dry as I would have thought (actually not a 'dry' task under any circumstance). Below is a picture.

So, I will be learning as I go and look forward to being a part of you forum!

You may not need a heater as things get a little warm in the cockpit of these things.  I'm not sure you can replace the heater core without removing the dash which is always and issue with old plastic I'm not sure you could get it off with without cracking it.  But if you do then there are a lot of little things you will want to do so you never have to take it off again in your lifetime anyway.
