Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Welcome Eugene
Sounds like we need to hear the story behind this one. How did you come to own it? Is it going to be your driver or just weekend and shows?
Hi Eugene! Welcome to a wonderful, friendly, informative group. Check out all the useful information. I hope to see you around the forum. Take care

We found the car some 3 1/2 years ago after another I was interested in was not what it was posted to be. I went online one night about a week later, typed in used Corvettes for sale and this one popped up immediately. It was being sold by a corvette dealer some 4 hours south of us. We went down to see it and put down a deposit on it. The car was previously purchased by the original owner for ten years which put some 15,000 miles on it . It was then traded in and the second owner purchased it. This person had it for 23 years and barely put on 2,000 miles on it in that time. It sat in a heated garage under cover and only taken out rarely. The car came also with the original tires and rims as the first owner took them off to install his own. When he traded the car the origianl tires went back on the car. We bought the car and drove it home on the original tires, taking care not to abuse them while on the interstate.
The car needed a few things but we were able to get them repaired, such as the AC. We ran the original tires for a year and finally took them off this past spring even though they don't show any rot or bulges. They are currently being stored away in case some day we decide we sell the car. IT is all original with PS,PB,AC,T-tops,Rear defogger, Am/Fm radio, rally wheels, tele steering wheel, etc.
We have cleaned the car up but with the original paint I don't want to push it too far. There are some light scratches on the rear deck and at other spots of the car but we have left them to keep the car as a survivor and not a restored one. The car rides nice and we are very happy with it. It only goes out to car shows with friends, usually on weekends. With 19, 646 miles we know we scored a great find and are very proud that the car has been awarded just last month as the best Corvette in a large car show with many other vettes there as well.
There are a few things we want to get done yet but know a little at a time works best for us.
We hope to have this L-48 for many years to come.
Welcome to the C3VR family, Eugene (genefox).
Congratulations on such a great find.

Welcome, Eugene! Sounds (and looks) like you made a really good find! You'll find that this is the best site on the net for C3 info and talk! Enjoy!

Barry

Thanks Barry,
I will be picking some brains for some needed repairs like radio speaker replacement. I know where to buy the direct replacements and I am able to swap out the passenger side but the driver's side is another story. I am glad I found this site. It will be nice to chat with other vette owners. Thanks for contacing and welcoming me. I appreciate it.
