Hello, from Madrid, (Spain).

A friend of my, has here, in Madrid a 71 Corvette. VIN: 194371S102148. Manual.

¿Is possible to know if this car went an original LT1 or only an standart coupe.

The actual engine is not original, now have an standart GM 350ci (not corvette).

Thank you, for all the members.

I believe all coupes had the same vin series and the last 5 digits represented the production sequence.

Have you searched for the build sheet? Most common place to find one is on top of the fuel tank. You'll find the LT1 as a listed option if it was. Some other obvious signs are the type of hood, as the LT1s had a domed hood with LT1 decals  and chrome trim around the "rain catcher".  Also, the data plate by the shifter should indicate 350 CI, 330 HP, 360 lbs ft of torque.

There may be other tell tale signs for an LT1 and I'm sure you'll hear more from the group soon.

Good luck!!

Paul

Welcome Carlos. For investment sake, I'm sure being an LT1 would make it more valuable, but you can't put a price on the enjoyment you get from any C3 just owning and driving it. I don't think I could ever stand to sell mine, and they're just plain vettes. I have too much fun working on and driving them. Good luck guys.
