Vette(s): 1981 Corvette, blue w/black interior (not original), rally wheels. Project car.
Thanks, Adam.
I am a new Corvette owner, but not new to working on them.  Worked part time for an American-owned Corvette shop in Tokyo, Japan for about 9 years, when I was stationed there with the Air Force.
I'm an avid "car guy".  Owned a lot of Mopars, mostly Roadrunners.  Many, many Camaros...last count there'd been 21 pass through these hands.  A few Trans Ams and many other makes/models.  Build my own engines and transmissions...can do pretty much everything except sand and paint a car.  Couldn't do that to save my life.
I'm retired Air Force; did 27 years between the Army and Air Force.  Spent 20 of 24 years in the Air Force overseas; retired in Korea in 2010.  I currently work for a top defense contract company in eastern New Mexico.
Recently returned to the US and resumed my love of cars and the hobby.  I currently own (besides my "new" L-81) a 78 Z-28, 86 Trans Am WS6, my beloved 2004 Hemi Durango, and a 2010 H-D Softail Custom.  New additions to my fleet since my return from Korea are an 88 IROC, a 2001 Trans Am WS6, and a 2011 Charger R/T.  I just picked up my Corvette last week...a 50th birthday present from the wife.  It's a standard, L-81 and needs work, as any 35 year-old car would need.  Got a large box from Eckler's last night, so the fun has already begun.
Looking forward to restoring my Corvette...will definitely be here looking for assistance from time to time...and to meeting other owners.
Thanks for reading and thanks for the welcome,

Barry
