Vette(s): 79 L-82 4-speed. Original block now a 383 with aluminum heads, roller cam and rockers, Edelbrock intake, MSD distributor and ignition module, Speed Demon 650 carb. Rebuilt and upgraded all steering and suspension.
Welcome to the forum. I bought my 79 Corvette Red 4-speed in December 2009 and have replaced and upgraded all of the steering and suspension. Someone on the forum always knows how to do whatever you need to do and will offer good advice. Of course having a shop manual and assembly manual handy is helpful too. Good luck.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
That is a good point a shop and assembly manual for your year are the first purchases you will want to make if you are going to do any work yourself.
Notice I said for your year.
Manuals that cover lots of years are of limited worth. In fact I have a few I would sell real cheap as with my 82 crossfire they are totally worthless.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes!!!!!
