I am visiting from the corvette forum and my car is about ready with the 6 speed conversion.  I have the old tranny and I don't think it is numbers matching and if so I want to relocate it to the original car if possible as it does me no good sitting in my closet having a tranny that does not belong to my car.  Can you all point me in the right direction...below is from a post on the corvette forum.

Hey Guys...I am somewhat a newbie having bought my first older classic vette last September. I am having a Richmond 6 speed installed with me getting the car hopefully next weekend. Anyway, I now have the tranny with me that came out of the car. When I bought the car I verified the engine was definitely numbers matching, but did not check the tranny as to me it was of not a concern since I knew in advance it would be getting a 6-speed. Anyway...here are the figures for my car and hopefully you all can tell me if it is the correct numbers matching tranny. I don't think so based on my research but thought I would check with the experts and if it is not I would like to somehow relocate this tranny with the original car if possible.

L-46 4 Speed With 4.10 gears is the way I bought it
VIN#194679S706039
Number Stamped On The Tranny Case Similar to Engine Block Casting Style where it was stamped# 19S446801
Says Borg Wagner (should it say Muncie?)
Other number in the molded casing of the tranny#1304065903

Here's the VIN decoder. It is located in at the top of the pages in the "Tools" section.

The trans is not out of your car. It is not even a 'Vette unit, from the numbers. I wouldn't worry about re-uniting it with it's orig. vehicle.
Maybe someone here has more info on the casting #, but the stamp # is not correct for a Corvette of any year.

wow!!! thanks for the info on the tranny not even being a vette unit.  Well then I guess I will put it up on Ebay and see what come out of it.  I would really like to know the gear ratios since I tried to match the 6-speed ROD with the the Muncie Wide Ratio Gears so I did not loose any gearing multiplication factor as I did that accidently in one car and was very disappointed in the acceleration results from the gearing multiplication change.  All I know is that the with this tranny the car did launch from the line very nicely with plenty of get up and go. 

Thanks again for the info...

btw...anybody want this tranny?  will deliver within 100 miles of Miami, FL.  Just give me something for my gas and beers and maybe we could make a deal.
