Thank you all for the Welcome! Been here before but a long time ago....way before this site was this good! I had a 77 at the time. I first fell in love with the Corvette when the 53 came out. I just a small kid at the time and my older brother found out about them and showed me pictures. Then in '54 at age 7-8 as we walked out of a hobby store in the small town we lived in at the tiime we almost "stepped on" a beautiful red 54. we looked that car over good careful not to scratch it. It's a wonder I didn't fall as I leaned over as far as I could to see inside (top was down). I would walk by this one auto shop that worked on hotrods, family cars and Corvettes anytime I wanted to go to town, the swimming pool, movies, etc and would always stop in staying out of everyone's way just to look at the cars and what they were doing. There was this one black mechanic (in the 50's very early 60's you didn't see that much) working on a Corvette. This had to be a 59 or 60. I asked him what he was doing and he said look at that speedometer....what's the to speed you see? I told him (I think it was something like 130 and told him..then asked so what are you doing? He replied"well, I'm going to make it go faster!" I asked him if I could sit in it and he let me (keep in mind I was beginning to be somewhat of a familar face at this time). So we are talking about the Vette and he continues working then he said 'hey kid, know how to start a car...to which I replied without much thought "yessir" then he says the unthinkable....well start this one for me! CAn you imagine at 12-13 years old what a thrill that was!! So yes, I do like these cars some. Again thank you for the welcome. If you are in the Clarksville, TN area 17 April come down to old town to the Rivers and Spires Festival and our club (Corvettes of Clarksville) Car show Corvettes On The Cumberland. In the interim stop by and visit our web site: www.corvettesofclarksvile.com and sign our guestbook. Save the Wave!

Bill -- I tried to access your club's website using your link and it wouldn't connect.
I corrected the link and this one works:
