Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Welcome Neal
Another Collector Edition. How are the rear window hings holding up? Good to have you on the web. What are your plans for your car. Daily driver or just for show?
I'm restoring mine keeping everything that I take off of it to make it a nice driver. I.e new radio, different rims New improved rear window hings but got all of the original stuff nicely taken care of.

Welcome Neal! Glad to have you here
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Thanks everyone for the welcome. I just traded a Mustang for this car and I hope it works out for me. It needs a few minor things I can take care of but overall it's a sharp car. The rear hinges seem OK but it needs new window struts. It will be a occasional driver and shown 2-3 times a year. Thanks again everyone!
Looks good! (small picture, though).

I believe there was a guy in Canada that rebuild the window struts. If you are interested I will try to back track where I found that information. It was about 4 years ago so it may take some looking.
I ended up replacing my with exact replicas build from a guy named Steve Simpson. Yes the same guy that does the hinges. But he said he would never build them again. He manufactured I believe 10 sets to the exact requirement of the original ones.
I purchase his last one by the way.
He told me at the time that a number of the ones available from the parts houses do not really fit. He also told me what to look out for. If I remember it all had to do with the connections on the ends and I believe he told me that some of them will not actually fit with out cutting some plastic out of the way.
I decided to purchase the set from him. and except for the blue writing on the shaft you cannot tell the difference from them and the ones he made.
I kept the originals just in case I decided to get them rebuild later. I'm surprised about your hinges it normally is not if they go bad but when they go bad. There is a 3 inch spread across them and if it get more than about 3 3/8 inches you run out of adjustment room on the locks. I know people that have taken them off and bent them back so they would work. That may be the case with yours. It would not be hard to do if you had a press. It can most likely be done a couple of times before the break but it would be weakening them each time you did it.
Again Welcome to the Forum nice looking car.
