Thank You, i hope to get a lot of good information on this forum and a lot of good time spend.
A little about my self: I am an old guy turning 60 next month, thats why i have decided that i need a little treat for my self and that has to be a C3 L81 automatic, preferable 1979 or 1980.
I live in Horsens in the center of Denmark. I am married to Jane and have 3 adult "kids", 2 dogs, 2 cats and some chickens in the backyard. Back in the "good ol' days" when i was young i drove american cars. I have had a 1965 Mustang 289 convertible, a 1963 Ford Thunderbird Tudor and a 1973 Ford Ranchero 500. Then i got married and the fun (with cars!) just stopped. since then i have been driving sensible european cars, but i have missed the rumbling from a V8 since then.
I will travel to USA in the autum for a round trip and i hope to find the right car before i go, and spend some time on American rods in it.
I have been in a long process to deside which Vette i would like to own. I started out looking at C5 and fell in love with a beautiful 2003 Anniversery edition convertible, but due to Danish tax, toll and registrationsrules it would be much to expensive for me before it would be on the road in Denmark. You see, first we have to pay 10% of buyingsum + shipment in toll, then 25% of buyingsum+shipment+toll in wat and then when it come to registration a fee typically about 150.000,- dkr (22.500.-$).
But if i buy a car older than 35 years it will be an antique and i will only have to pay 5% wat, no toll and only about 50.000,- dkr (7.500,-$) in registrations fee.
So therefore i am lurking around the web trying to become familiar with the C3.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
You have come to a site that can help. I have seen people check cars out for potential buyers when the buyer was just a couple of hundred miles away. So, depending on where a car is that you are looking for you may find someone that can go over it to see if it is worth your time to take a good look.
I assume that you want to get one that has had all of the mechanical work completed. It cost a small future to ship parts across the big pond.
I know that there is a corvette club in England have you checked there to see if someone is going to sell one that meets your requirements.
Every once in a while a member sells a restored car. You will want to check that topic in the Forum. I'm 70 so 60 is not all that old.
Also are you looking for a good clean driver or are you looking for a numbers matching car. That will make a big difference in what is available as well as the cost.
PM me if you are interested I know a guy that used to exports C3 to Europe. A 5 years ago he was shipping 2 to 3 cars each year. These were cars that were in good running condition. Clean enough to go on a car lot for resale. Do not know how much he is involved in that process currently. I know nothing like he was as he worked out of his house and the city got on him for running a business out of his home.
I'm amazed when they do that he cut back and there were 3 people that needed to find jobs. He only kept 2 working.
