Vette(s): 1974 Corvette Stingray - Dark Red L82 - To be a 454 clone.
Never owned a corvette before. Actually used to drag rce a 72 pinto (pause for laughter to fade), but sold it once the local strip closed. Haven't had a project since - about 12 years. I grew up in Auburn and every Labor Day I visit the ACD auction. As I walked through the car corral last September, I spotted this 74 L82 sitting on a hauler with the words "barn find" written on the driver side window. The car was pretty dirty inside and out, but looked pretty intact and original. Turned out that the current owner had just picked it up as partial trade for another car, didn't want to take it home, and priced it very aggressively. I must say, there was just something about it that I just couldn't pass up and, much to my wife's surprise, it got delivered to my house that evening. A few hours of cleaning, some minor work, new front calipers, and a fuel pump, I actually drove it around the block - ran pretty well considering. Didn't take long to decide to take it apart and do it right. as of last night, the body is resting about a foot off the frame and ready to be completely removed. Gonna be a fun project - I'm fired up.

Thanks for that info. You will find a number of people on this forum that have done what you are planning on doing. It is always interesting to document what you are doing if you have some pictures of what it looked like before you started Why don't you post them. If not start taking pictures now and keep us updated.
