Vette(s): 1982 Collector's Edition
Thanks for the welcome everyone. Looking forward to being a member here.

A little background on me. Grew up working for our family owned industrial machinery moving company. Dad engrained his work ethic into me at a very early age. For that I will always be indebted to him.

I was genetically predisposed to be a gearhead. Started building small block Chevy's at 14. At 15 fell head over heels in love with a cheerleader in high school, and 27 years and three kids later she still puts up with me. I've grown more infatuated with her every day.

Mom and dad popped for a new 1982 Collector's Edition Corvette on my 16th birthday. I still look back in amazement. What a great car. Not a thumper by any means, but I still think that is one of the most beautiful, gorgeous pieces of machinery GM ever produced! Man the memories we made in that car! Spent what seems the rest of my teens studying Vette history, tech, etc.

Graduated college in 1988 and traded the Vette for a Chevy 4x4 truck. Haven't owned anything but trucks since then, and really drifted away from the Vette scene. Picked up Dad's interest in sprint car and midget racing, and for the last 6-7 years have been toying around with hotrodding the Chevy Duramax Diesels. They are a blast.

Just a few weeks ago, Dad found an '82 CE on E-bay and said we should get it for the wife. I was a little hesitant, but finished the deal. It showed up in time for Christmas, absolutely immaculate. Gave it to her Christmas morning and she was blown away. Cried like a baby.

Well, this '82 has rekindled my affair with the Corvette. Having grown up in that era, in my mind, the C3's have always DEFINED Corvette. I'll be spending some time here to catch up on what I've been missing the past 20 years. There wasn't much tech info on the CFI back then, or at least the resources weren't readily available. I'm sure I'll have some tweaking and tuning issues to address with this car. Looking forward to it!Redbone2009-01-09 06:27:30
