Thanks,
I bought my Vette in May this year in Tokyo and am bringing it back from Japan with me.
Japanese have NO idea what value a classic car can be, or what fun they are. To the Japanese a "classic" car is just an old car. They have "officially" ZERO value so you can't even get insurance past the basic liability on them.
Reselling them takes time and dedication because, though there are Corvette clubs here very few people will spend much money on an "old" car.
My car has undergone several poor restorations over the years by people with no real knowledge of what they are doing. Though I am new to Vettes I have restored and rebuilt Mustangs and GTOs and a few other cars over the years and what I know is, if you are going to do the job, you do it right...
So I feel like I am rescuing a stranded American lost and forgotten in a hostile land...
Ok, some of that is projecting...
Anyway, I plan to do a complete frame-off restore, but not to original status. I will do a great deal of customizing and upgrading the platform as I go... You know, modernize the technology a bit... I will of course redo the body from nose to stern while I am at it...
I won't start right away, since I am just getting settled in back the states over the next couple months and I need the car on the road until I get something else for my daily driver... But once I start, it all comes off and I will start with the frame clean-up and suspension resto... then work slowly from there as time and budget allows...
I will focus on handling and performance improvements in steering, suspension and brakes. Then on cooling that ZZ4 HO engine with some electric fans... After that it is all about making the body look awesome...
Any suggestions from the experienced will be welcome...
Cheers,

Hi Russell, welcome to a great group of C3 people. You'll fit right in. I hope to see some of your progress on your "baby". Take care, Larry
