Welcome
Tell us something about the corvettes you own or are looking to purchase.
Hi,
I live in Berlin, Germany and I am considering buying a nice C3, preferably with an L82 engine. I see there's quite a vibrant community in here, is it mostly US?
Cheers,
Pete

Hi Pete,
Welcome to the forum and good luck with your C3 search. Berlin can be an awesome place to cruise in a Corvette, especially at night with the top down.
While I was stationed in Berlin in the early '70s I bought a 1960 hard top Corvette for all of $425.00 and it was in nice driver condition. Obviously, prices have gone up just a bit since then.
I used to participate in autocross events at Tempelhof airport and one of the sites of the 1936 Olympics, which was a lot of fun. I also drove it to Holland to visit friends of the family and attended the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and watched Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert place first and second. Unfortunately, the race was tarnished with the fatal crash of Roger Williamson, but I was grateful to have been able to see both, Stewart and Cevert in their last year of racing F1.
If you are fortunate enough to buy a C3, you might want to explore any autocross events that might still be going on. It's a lot of fun to have the opportunity to really drive the car without having to worry about obstacles. Of course, you've also got the Autobahn, where you can open it up and challenge European sports cars and the polezi in their Porsches (NOT recommended).
Just for fun, you might also want to search the bone yards for Corvettes and parts. I happened to find a yard where there was a C1 body/frame sitting on top of another car as well as a T-10 transmission, but the owner wanted far more than I wanted to pay for either. However, I did buy a C1 tach drive from him. You just never know what you'll find until you poke around a bit.
Anyway, I hope you're able to buy a C3 and enjoy cruising Berlin and other parts of Europe. You'll get a LOT of attention!
