My first Vette, now owned by JB79:

hallo to you all C3 lovers !
i bought ,only a few months ago , a 1970 T top 350/350.The car is already completly restorated in 1999.The former owner bought the car just for looking at it as he loved the body-lines ! I will drive her ... Just changed the steering colum with a Tilt&Slide witch i could order in the US trough a Dutch dealer.( i'm from Belgium). Now only this makes the car so much easier tho drive as we are used with straight arms . She's not a matching number as her engine is from '69 , rebuild with Worldcasting S/R heads , Weiand intake manifold and Holley 600 CFM . The colors are correct : cortez silver and bright blue. There are the '69 side pipes , alarm and Power steering . No airco or electr. windows. And a LT1 or big block ? hood.
I also bought the C3 alu wheels ( because i like them so much ) and Firehawk Indy 500 tyres also from the US because those are not availeble in europe. Can't wait for our summer tho drive !
see you !
Welcome to the shark pond. Belguim, now that will take some gas to drive over for the annual meeting. I also have a mostly stock '70 convertible (LT-1) Mine is not orginal color but what the h*ll vette are suppose to be RED....
This is a great web site, truly like family, if you log in often enough you will find that out. Alot of very knowledgeable people so don't be afraid to ask questions. Lokk forward to hearing from the other side of the pond. Welcome aboard.

Thanks for welcome ! happy to know that i'm not the only one crazy of a C3 ! In Belgium there are some cars but rarely if not never seen on the road. I surely not seen one the last 10 years , driving approx. 20.000 miles/year. ( that's much for a small country like Belgium ... ) The few ones are kept at home i suppose , just collectors items and used for meetings. My car did 4.700 miles with former owner in 6 years !I will change that ! Better move to the US as i also ride a Harley Fatboy dreaming about your R66...
That they are rare in europe isn't far to look : beginning the '70s they cost approx. 20.000 $ !! ( in the US 10.000 $ ? ) i've seen at that time a C3 cost the same as a Ferrari Dino in Belgium. ( Auto exibition Brussels 1973 ).
I bought mine now for 36.000 $ , realy completely restored , as new car in every corner , even the most remoted bolt !
For a not restorated car the prices are around 18.000 $ so i was advised not to do the job myself as the restoration-costs can't be calculated completely in eventuelly selling the car.
On the other hand europe sharks have low miles as they were only used on sundays by a few happy ( rich )people. In '70 you could purchase a nice little house for the stingray's price tag !
And yes , there are more Porsche's driving around our streets and friends don't understand always my car but in our village Maldegem there is a Canadian War Museum and grave-yard of your guy's so i can proudly pass or stop over there with the V8-sound-US-shark instead of a screaming German product....My parents still remeber !
See you !
Hey , here am again.... ( oh no... )
can anyone help me find what type the car was originaly ? Because of complete restoration and not a matching engine i have my doubts :
1970 VIN 194370S401317
correct colors cortez silver/bright blue , date A20
1) console and tach drive correspond a 350/350
2) hood is type LT1 or BB
3) belgium documents speak of a 6990 CC = 427 CI ???
4) engine is now a rebuild from block VIIO1HZ 19S706785 , a model '69 , build 1 november ' 68 , originaly 350/300 autom.transmission.Block nr 3932386 = 4 bolt 350 '69
5) now it is 4 speed manual
6) Headers have 1972 numbers , intake manifold is Weiand and heads are Worldcastings S/R so they don't help with casting numbers.
Is there something on the car that figures out what the original engine was ? Or can it be find trought chassisnumber ?
hope to hear from you guys , the specialists must be in the US !
regards
Norbert
