Welcome John
Wow I'm on vacation from San Diego and currently at staying in Sequim at the Elks lodge with my RV.  That would put me about 1.5 hours north of you I guess.

Tell us a little more about your car and how you came to own it.

Hey TB, you are correct, you are right up the road. If you come back south on Hwy 16 you could throw a football to my subdivision from the highway. My wife and I are leaving in our RV next Sunday to take a month off and do our fall trip down the Oregon Coast. Regarding the car it was a Craigslist add back in June. Not much of a description, terrible pictures and out in the boondocks between Portland and Seaside OR. I have been looking for an early C3 4speed car and this one needed to be rescued. Ironically I bought it from the original owner who purchased it new in Portland, delivered on 1-31-73 with 7 miles. He drove it until 1991 then parked it. His son and a buddy tried to put a clutch in it several years ago and really struggled. I bought the car it was not running or driving. I was able to turn the motor over with a wrench and decided to take a chance. I was impressed with how original and unmolested the car was. Mechcanically it was in pretty rough shape but it was only missing only one or two small pieces and had not been modified in any way. Within the first day of getting it home I found all of the original dealer documentation still in the rear storage compartment along with the original dated t-top covers. After a two month mechanical restoration, the car is running and driving very well. With only some new carpet and wood grain inserts, the interior turned out fantastic. The exterior of the car is a different story. The FG has a few bumps and bruises, about everything possible has been spilled or dropped onto the paint at some time, but I'm looking at all of that as "patina" right now. My major objective was to get the car back on the road and I have done so. I continue to research the originality of the car and I'm going to take the winter months to decide where it goes from here. I'll post some better pictures and perhaps I could get some input from the members. Thanks for your interest and have a safe drive home. John

You have a safe trip also.  We may be passing as I'm going to Victoria on Sunday back on Wednesday and start wandering home on Thursday.  Do not know for sure where we will stop or what to see in Oregon except for Crater Lake.  If you have suggestions PM me or send an email directly to gilbert@ghmail.net.

Welcome and there are some really smart guys on this forum that will be sure to help with any of your needs.

By the way unless you writing directly on the post reply you usually have to edit it to get the formatting back.
