Welcome to the C3VR family, Mike (Wally).

The difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys!!
Thanks for the welcome. In initial negotiation stage for a 1973 L82 convertible with both tops. Car is in pristine condition with 7300 original miles. Only drawback is that the first owner had it repainted from the factory silver to red. Do you think this would affect the cost?

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
It would some. But there are a number of other guys that will help in that area better than me.
One question everyone will have a question on is where and how it was stored and send pictures.
You say pristine condition and with the low miles I would assume it was almost never driven and store indoors. Cars do not like being stored for a long time without being driven. So you may want to ask how often it was driven or started.
By the way you will be looking at replacing most of the running gear if you plan on driving it much. My 82 just had 44000 and now that I have been driving it the front end rubber joints are starting to show slop. The difference in 7300 and 44000 is a lot but age like in people affected cars a lot. You are talking about almost 40 years for yours.
By the way you have come to the correct place to get questions and help.

You got the idea the best way to get help I found and I needed a lot of it. Was to make sure I picked the correct forum and kept the questions down to specifics. If I thought a picture would help sent it.
By the way before you ask get yourself a GM shop manual for your car. There is nothing like having the manual that covers your year. I spend about $80 on manuals before I found this site and was told what I needed.
The only other manual I personally recommend is the assembly manual it shows how all the parts of the car went together. I only know of one place to get those and that is from Corvette America.
