Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Welcome Terry

So what did you have to do to it to get it restored?  Nice looking give us the story.  Now that it is restored what are you plans for it?

whew, where do I start..........
I purchased her through a broker in Las Vegas in 2004.
when she arrived I found that the paint was a little worse than advertised. Who ever painted her did not prep the base correctly andthe paint shrunk and pulled away all along the back window fins on both sides and back to the tail lights.
In 2006 she suffered a severe "hiccup" in the motor. As soon as I heard the rattle I shut her down and had my friend who is an excellent mechanic come over to see her. Needless to say it was not good.
With a grim face we pulled the motor. When we took the right head off we saw a large portion of the top of one piston missing.
I took the motor to an engine builder and he went through her meticulously. The best news was that the piston walls and block were in very good shape. Who ever built her had one eye and was blind. There were things in her that just did not belong in a big block.
She had been bored.30 over once already so we had to take her out another .30. All the parts put in were high quality racing grade components. I did not want a radical motor so we stayed with a mild cam and flat pistons to safeguard the motor from grenading in the future.
While all this was going on we took her into my friends shop and put her up on stands. I went through the under carriage and replaced what I could and cleaned the rest. I removed the trailing arms and sent them to "V-Tech Corvette" in Stillman Valley, IL and had them rebuilt. Gary did an excellent job and I considered hanging them on the wall instead of reattaching to the Vette! He did a fabulous job on them.
With everything cleaned and the motor back we commenced to piece her back together. Even though she was numbers correct there was a lot  of little things wrong. Most of the bolt heads were wrong marks and the hoses were all wrong. I ordered, ordered and ordered some more through Paragon. It got to where the girl recognized my voice when I called, which is not a good thing.
We then took her to the body shop in Oct.2011. She was taken down to bare fiberglass and that is when my shop guy about fainted. Whoever painted her last used a grinder on the entire front end to remove original paint! He said he had to remove about 40 pounds of bondo. He built her back up with glass and took their time in fixing other little odds and ends. She had not suffered any major damage prior to this work, which was a good thing.
The photo I posted of her was from two years ago. I will post more pictures of her when I can.
The interior is black and in great shape, except for the heat/qir duct on the drivers side which was missing. I got another duct but I am having a hard time locating the mounting hardware and airflow directional parts.
Other than that she is chugging along. I will never sell her. I can remember the 69 on the show room floor and it was something I wanted then and will keep until my son inherits her.

That's the thing with buying old Vettes! You NEVER know what you're going to run into! Usually nothing that LOTS of money won't fix! But man, they are cool, aren't they! It is a great sense of accomplishment when you get the car where YOU know it's right! Kep up the good work!
