look in the rear most section of your interior and see what kind of vent you have. do the vents open with vacumm or are they factory sealed.

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
Sold - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
Not sure which choice to make. "The Toy" is a non-A/C convertible and the doors were stuck open when I bought her allowing water to get in and wreck the carpeting back there. So I took the radical approach and sealed the doors shut with some screws. When I take everything apart back there while replacing the carpet I plan to look into seeing if I can get the doors functioning again. Then I'll be able to answer how they're activated.

My Vette is at home, I'll tell you in December, but I hadn't noticed anything like that at all in my prodding under the carpeting.

you should't have to remove any carpet to see these vents. they are on the vertical part of the very back of the interior. they are aproximatly 2x8 inches and there are 2 of them. they either have a vacumm operated door or have a plate covering them. either way you can just look at the rear of the interior and see them

I know for sure that my windows have Astro Ventilation etched into them. Does that mean anything?

I believe that from 76 on, there are no vents...

I am fairly certain that ALL air conditioned cars did NOT have Astro Ventilation, even though ALL cars, both with and without a/c, had Astro Ventilation on the windows. Those cars with a/c had the grills but they were fixed in place, but the windows still had the Astro Ventilation script. This is a fairly well documented item. I don't know if you can get repro glass from OEM glass without the Astro Ventilation script though.

I have a '75 with a/c and astro ventilation and yes the pressure vents are factory sealed but the car does have astro ventilation it's the system of drawing air from the wiper cowl. My '69 chevelle came with it also. The rear vents were to help circulate air on non-a/c cars they were suppossed to open with a vacuum actuator connected to the heater control. They were suppossed to drain through a 3/8 inch hose that ran to the side of the car. On a/c cars the rear vents were deleted because they prevented the car from cooling. I pulled the a/c from my car and i'm looking for the rear astro vent boxes, if anyone's lookin to get rid of thiers, mail me.
