Installed door weatherstrip, all fine on install. Closed doors, and from inside I put windows up to check fit. Windows each side go up almost to top and stop. The weatherstrip at the top ends of the doors looks to be holding the window from completely closing. Pieces were installed exact. I am looking now to shave off some rubber at these corners. Has anyone run into this problem before? I will say that the weatherstripping I purchased is very bad quality. If you are going to buy weatherstripping, do some serious shopping and expect to pay for quality. Beware of cheap imitations, lesson learned. |saluteflag| |cool|

Napa has a product called silica glide I treated my new weatherstripping with it and it worked wonders windows now go up and seal tight. previous to the treatment they would stop about a quarter inch or so from the top they were hanging up on the rubber piece with the screw in it on the front top of the door seal. Just a thought.By the way I am trying to paint my front bumper today, have waited all week to get this done and it is pouring down rain here today. |frown|

Try the lubricant first, if you trim some off of the rubber, you will remove the skin and shorten the life of the rubber.

Tom be patient with the paint. Laquers tend to "blush" on very humid or rainy days.

Tom, Dave, Thanks for the tip. Never thought of that. I will give it a try. I shop at NAPA all the time. I have to say, this weatherstripping vs. what I took off (original GM), does not have any skin like protection on it. The take off's did. You can see the difference. This stuff looks like a sponge surface. Workig with this new product, it just wants to deteriorate when you handle it. Lesson learned, will know where to buy next time. |saluteflag| |cool| |thumb|

I bought my weatherstripping from Corvette Rubber a couple of years agao, the quality was very good, though I dont think any of the aftermarket stuff is as good as the OEM but the mdse from Corvette rubber comes close. Its supposed to be sunny tomorrow here so I guess I will paint the bumper then.By thge way Vince how did your bumper replacement turn out?

After replacing my door and T-top weather strips, I ended up spending considerable time adjusting the windows. |hammer| |cussing| After I was finished, up and down worked fine, no leaks and life is good! |bouncy|

Hey Tom. They sent me another bumper. I trial fitted it after drilling the mounting holes, expecting it to fit. It would not fit at all. All Corvette's are different. I called them up, and by then I had the wrinkled bumper and the exchange piece. I was supposed to send the wrinkled one back. I decided to keep it because it fit very good, and send the other back. I think they got upset, because I got an e mail complaining of all the postage this has cost them. I had it painted, mounted it and after torquing down, it wrinkled like a washboard, just on one side.
I have written the manuf. asking what to do, and they will not answer my e mail, and the distributor I purchased it from, will not answer me either, after dropping a load of dough on them. I will not mention their names on this board. Same old story sometime, they get your dough and let you go. Once you start to complain, they just go away. I am going to have a pro fix it while it is on the car.
I had a problem with pre-covered leather/vinyl seats on new foam. The backs and the seat cushions seams were off from matching top to bottom, almost an inch on each side. The manufacturer made me a complete new set, perfect, and followed up with a phone call and letter.
That was Corvette America, and they bent over backwards to satisfy. This was a long answer to your question. |saluteflag| |cool|

I replaced all of the weatherstrip in my CE a couple of years ago and used Corvette Rubber. Everything is working perfectly. I recommend them highly. |wink|

Yes it is. The most important thing about replacing it is to make sure you get a good adhesive remover. That makes the job go a heck of a lot easier. Saved me about 2-3 hours easy!!!

Thanks for the update. I am replacing the new weatherstrip I got from a discounter. I will call Corvette Rubber when I get back to home base next week. Anyone buying weatherstrip, I only have one thing to say: You get what you pay for, and nothing else. So I can not get the top of weatherstripping to fit door properly, the rubber mount that goes on front of door is not deep enough to sit down properly and does not come close to screw holes. I ordered supposedly guaranteed to fit kit oh couple of years ago would have to look up manufacturer, but I do know it is made in usa, made sure of that not imported stuff, so don't know what t o do. If i order new door seals from corvette rubber am I going to have same problem

Can you get a pic of the weatherstrip where it's supposed to fit that location?
