"Money can't buy happiness -- but somehow it's more comforting to cry in a CORVETTE than in a Kia"
There are some figures of how many vettes were made in St. Louis and Bowling Green according to exterior color. It mainly referes to the paint. St. Louis used lacquer paints through the end of production in that plant. Bowling Green used enamel basecoats followed by clear topcoats. Paints and paint codes were different for the two plants and confusion exists regarding quantities. Bowling Green built both two-tones and solid B. Green quantities ar understated by 6% - only counthed thru 8/31/81), and St. Louis was assigned solid colors. But St. Louis two-tones have been reported.
I didn't find any information regarding the Cinnabar interior. Interior codes were: Bk=Black, C=Cloth, Ch=Charcoal, Cm=Camel, Db=Dark Blue, Dr=Dark Red, L=Leather, Mr=Medium Red, Sg=Silver Gray.
And one other thing, "At least one primer 1981 model has been documented, a St. Louis build, with "SPEC" trim tag.
St. Louis did paint some two-tones....ever see a 78 pace Car? Silver Anni?
These were laquer, while all of the BG cars were enamel/base/clear.
There were also some St.Louis cars painted enamel in July 1980.
All of this is irrelevant to the original question tho...
Cinnabar = Dark Red 67C = cloth 672 = leather
Yeah, I know St. Louis painted some two-tones and YES, I have seen a bunch of Pace Cars.
I was just trying to give the person more info, but didn't realize people were calling the Dr code Cinnabar (my mistake).
There is no way to tell exactly how many were coded Dr for B. Green, but it was not limited to white exterior cars. There had to be more than 250 built with the Dr code from some figures I've seen.
