I'm thinking a mid-June get-together is in order for the Upper Midwest folks near the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul (and anyone else who would like to join in). Gather on Thursday night, the 11th, do some fun stuff on Friday and Saturday, the 12th/13th, and head for home on Sunday the 14th (Flag Day).
Thursday: gather at the Minnetonka Drive-In for the weekly local Cruise-In. The food is typical drive-in fare and the mix of toys is always fun to see.
Friday/Saturday: local car collections to see, could try to arrange a tour of Doug Rippe Motorsports, cruise Lake Minnetonka on a restored streetcar-boat, racing at a go-kart track, lots of local cruise-ins to check out in the evenings, and miles and miles of scenic driving available to explore with endless choices for eating venues. For the "shop-aholics" there is the MOA (Mall of America) and outlet malls in the area.
Sunday: gather for breakfast before heading for home
For anyone coming from out of town I can see about reserving a block of rooms at a local motel.
Let me know if there is any interest in this type of a gathering. More details can be worked out based on interest.

The only visit to MAM for us this year will be with the NCC on the way to BG for the NCM's 15th anniversary party. The only other long distance trek on the calendar for 2009 is to Colorado in July for a niece's wedding.
Otherwise there will be just a couple of day trips or maybe a single night over-nighter to a nearby destination. Not a lot of time or dollars in the travel budget for this year.
Hope some folks within a day's drive of the TC area can come in for this get-together.

Hey Dan, we might even be able to caravan.

There's four (possibly)...!!! There are nearly 40 current and former members within a 50 mile radius of me that I plan to contact. If only half or a third of that number show up it will still be GREAT get-together.
I know it is a "chicken-and-the-egg" kind of scenerio at the moment but in order to put together an agenda it would help to know what the interest level will be. I'll try to have more info scoped out in the next couple of weeks.
Last Friday afternoon I visited with the folks at Doug Rippie Motorsports and they are happy to have us visit...!!! So that will be a stop on Friday as they're not open on the weekend.
Early in his career Doug campaigned a C3 (and is currently restoring the car for vintage racing) and then moved into C4s. He worked with the Mercury Marine folks (who built the HEART of first ZR-1) on some special racing variants of the LT-5 and became one of the few "tuners" who specialized on that engine. You can read more about their operation on their web-site.
Hope to have a few more things lined up in the coming weeks and have a published agenda posted by the end of April.
