Man, I wish we were closer. I just started my 13th gallon, one pint at a time.
That's really cool. Our Oklahoma Blood Institute hasn't caught on to doing stuff like that. They spend all their funds on one cruise to one person each year...and they wonder why they always need blood.

I used to give blood all the time while in the Army but got away from it, don't know why. I agree, I wish I was closer I'd donate for tickets to the qualifications. Heck, I'd donate just because

Larry, thanks for spreading the word. I am actually signed up to give platelets tomorrow - and I didn't even know they were giving anything away!!
My mother used lots of blood and platelets towards the end of her life. I had never given before then, and that made me decide to give. Last year, I got hooked up with a Leukemia patient and gave weekly through most of the summer. You can give platelys up to every three days, as opposed to whole blood that you can only give every 56 days. It was a great feeling. With my first donation this year, I got my 10 gallon pin!!
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Working on my 9th gal, but never expect anythingh in return.
I just hope no one in my family ever needs it.
