At Funfest, I was discussing some ideas I had for a Midwest Gathering in Indianapolis and it was suggested that we use some of the plans to get together late this year in December.
Loose plans at this time could include folks getting together for dinner Friday night, but that isn't defined yet.
What is defined is that Saturday morning, we would visit Ray Skillman's Collector Car Sales. Ray is an Indianapolis car dealer with multiple locations. He is a strong supporter of the Corvette hobby and sponsors at least one Corvette show a year. This location is a museum/showroom for classic cars. Every car we see (I believe) is for sale, so the inventory is constantly changing. When I have visited the showroom, there have always been plenty of Vettes from all generations, as well as a large number of GTO's, Mopars and Mustangs. The location is well decorated with automotive memoribilia as well. It is nicely done. I have spoken to them and they are looking forward to our arrival.
I would think we would be there starting around 10:00am (this would allow folks to come in from out of town if they didn't want to stay overnight Friday) and probably stay about two hours.
From there, we could do an organized lunch and then head south to the Edinburgh Outlet Mall or the Greenwood Park Mall. Edinburgh is the closest outlet mall to the Indianapolis area (about 30 minutes from Ray Skillman) and has 85 different outlet stores. Greenwood Park is the busiest Mall in the Indianapolis area, and is only about 10 minutes from Ray Skillman. Whichever we decide, those staying overnight in Indianapoilis could hit the other mall on Sunday.
Both malls have plenty to keep folks busy and restaurants available.
Getting everyone together for dinner is an obvious part of this gathering, although a location is yet to be defined.
I will work on looking for hotel information once I see what response to this gathering is. Depending on hotel info and the number of people staying overnight Saturday, we could also consider breakfast on Sunday.
I am open to suggestions and comments. Again, plans are loose right now, but as I see who is interested in this, and as the time grows nearer, I will work on tightening those up. With typical weather for this time of year including snow and salt, obviously, bringing Vettes will be optional

In your response, please let me know who (number of folks), when you think you would arrive, when you would depart and if you are more interested in doing Edinburgh or Greenwood Park on Saturday.
Are we there yet?
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I learned late this week that I'm being put on a project in Sparks (Reno), NV. I leave Monday. I'll be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but probably not much in between.
Looks like the Ray Skillman visit will need to be re-scheduled until Spring or Summer (and combined with some more Corvette-friendly events).
Any good Vette locations/vendors/etc anyone know of in the Reno/Tahoe/Sparks area? It's been quite a while since I've been out there. Last time I was there, I did make it to Tahoe, but that's about it. If there was anything special in Carson City that ya'll did during the gathering that you could suggest, I'd appreciate it. I doubt I'll have much free time, but just in case...
