Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I would be happy to invite ya'll, but I'm already told that "there is a waiting list."

When I bought my truck, I got to talking to people about my Vette at the Chevy dealer where I got the truck.  It just happens to be the oldest Automotive Dealership (any brand) in the US (Hare Chevy, Noblesville, IN).  They told me they have a Corvette Event every year and I made sure I got on the list.

Well, I figured it was just going to be a show..  Then I got the e-mail with this info:

3 :00 –  4 : 15   - Your Corvette/Camaro Customer arrive at your dealership. Registration and waiver signed at the dealership. Take the opportunity to view our
full of our new product line up.

4 :30  - Travel to IMS by Police escort and gather in assigned area

The Event starts by gathering 300 Corvette’s with up to 600 Corvette Owners at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 29, 2010. The Corvette/Camaro Owners and their very own Corvette/Camaro get an opportunity to do a Parade Lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the night before one of the greatest racing events.  Upon completion of the Parade Lap the Corvette/Camaro Owners will be hosted to a cookout and entertainment in the Chevrolet Display located outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum. Special Guest and events to be announced at the outing!

5: 15  –  6 : 00   Parade Lap around the IMS by all 300 Corvette’s

 6 : 00 -8:00 -    Corvette/Camaro Customers and Dealership attendee’s hosted a cook with live music and guest appearances.

(ok, I may have made special note above of the POLICE ESCORT TO THE TRACK!!!)
I've taken my car on a lap around the speedway once before (see picture below), and actually, that was the night before the 500 as well.  Now I get to do it AGAIN!!  Forecast for Saturday is 83 and Sunny!

I will make sure I get plenty of pictures and put them up.  I would imagine I will be crusing with lots of C5s and probably more C6s.  Wish me luck!  I wish I could make it to TX to do two tracks in one week.  I actually start vacation the Saturday of the TX run, but I just don't think I can make it down there in time.  Dang

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I took video the last time I drove it.  I will have to rely on the wife to take most pix and shoot video - and she isn't big on running the camera.

Last time I did this, the IMS photographers were out (that's who took my picture).  I'm hoping they'll be there again.

Way to go, Marshall.  How fast is the parade lap??  Man, if only I had enough time (and money) to buy a truck at that dealer and get in on the fun.  Oh well, think of all of us while you're out there... you're the o'fishel C3VR representative.

Speed will probably be dictated to no faster than about 30 mph.  Not sure how fast it will get with that many cars though.

Larry, as for having bought a truck at the dealership, I think the idea for getting invited to this is that you were supposed to have bought a Vette there - I think I just snuck in.  We'll see.  I doubt there will be many cars older thana  C5 there.
