I just got back home and could wait to tell you guys what a great time I had in Bowling Green, I met lots of fun people and we all had the best time. I got to meet Dennis and Tim form Oklahoma. I met Mel and got to see his 77 in the museum. Plus I just walked around and visited with anyone that wanted to.

This had to be one of the best trips ever for me.

Brian,
Glad the Homecoming was fun for you. There must have been a lot of Vettes there. Did it seem too crowded?
Are you planning to go to the Classic Corvette Extravaganza in Oct?

The turnout seem to be a little smaller then most years for this event. Only had a few venders. Maybe what happened at Carlisle had something to do with it. Still everyone was having a good time and the weather was picture perfect. I hit a little rain late Thursday night but it only lasted a few miles. I don't think I can make the trip in October, bad timing for me this year. I did have a good time last year and recommend it to anyone that is thinking of going.

I really enjoyed the show although I was disappointed in the lack of vendor turnout.

I got Dave McClellan to sign my air cleaner.  He told us that in 1979, they were worried about the performance of the base engine for 1980 so they took the biggest Airstream trailer they could find and pulled it with an '80 vette at 120mph for over 100 miles.  No problems with the engine.

I think that is one of the best things about these events.  You get to meet the guys that made this happen and they love talking about the cars.

Dave even agreed with Brian about the diagnosis on my car.  I am using about a quart of erl per tankful.  We had two burnt plug wires (I have the old rams horn factory manifolds) and found several plugs that looked like they had a crawdad mound on them.

Brian said it looked to him like the intake manifold gaskets had slipped and was letting the oil past into the cylinders since there was no leak and no residue in the exhaust.  Dave agreed.

Great, now another tech article for SharkBytes!

Brian, it was great to meet you and hang with you last weekend.  I'm looking forward to meeting up with you again sometime.
