C5-R Performance Tour 2004 Update
Entries to the C5-R Performance Tour are coming in steadily, and the last day to enter the drawing is August 15. Only available to NCM Members and limited to 100 Corvettes, the Performance Tour offers an up close and personal experience with the Corvette Race Team that includes a behind-the-scenes tour and lunch at Pratt & Miller Race Shop, special track activities, and a “meet and greet” with the team members. Participants will also visit GM world-wide headquarters and enjoy a spectacular banquet at the new GM Heritage Museum. Event collectibles for each participant, a commemorative photo and the chance to purchase from an exclusive line of event merchandise is also part of the experience. The event is scheduled for October 28-31, 2004. All proceeds benefit the building campaign and a portion of the entry fee is tax deductible as allowed by law. Enter here for a chance to be drawn as one of the 100 participants: https://www.corvettemuseum.com/registration/c5rperformance/ or call us at: (800) 53-VETTE.
Last C5 Coupe Update
The very last C5 is scheduled to make its way down the Assembly line next week marking the end of production of the 5th generation of Corvette. We are excited to be raffling this unique Corvette which is a Commemorative Edition Coupe. Tickets on the last C5 Coupe are only $25 each and a winner will be drawn as part of the 10th Anniversary Corvette Celebration September 2-5, 2004. Find out more about this and other exciting raffles by visiting our website at: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/raffle/index.shtml or call us at: (800) 53-VETTE.
C6 Changes in the Corvette Plant
A number of changes will take place to the Corvette Plant’s paint shop area during Plant shutdown July 5-16. These changes and improvements to equipment are needed to get ready for the C6 model and to ensure paint consistency and quality of finish. Starting at body wash, additional shields will be installed to prevent oil from the conveyor getting on to the paint jobs. The first color booth will undergo a major renovation, the main concern being improved air quality. The paint shop improvements are being driven by the need to improve the paint quality level on both the XLR and the new Corvette. Better monitoring and control of everything that affects the paint application process offers a more consistent quality.
