15Th Anniversary Caravan Planning Begins

The first developments for the 2009 15th Anniversary Celebration and National Corvette Caravan are beginning to take shape!

Past caravan co-chair Kathie Lin Summers has been named Chair of the 15 th Anniversary Caravan and has formed a national committee to begin the process. Building on the success of the past caravans - 1994, 1999 and 2003, Kathie and her committee will be assembling a team of captains from across the U.S.  Anyone interested in becoming involved in the Caravan planning, either on the regional, state or local level, should send an email to caravan@corvettemuseum.com to become involved.  Additional information will be made available via our website – so stay tuned to NCM eNews for the latest updates.

Corvette Enthusiasts To Take Part in the Indy Opening Weekend Festivities

As part of the opening ceremonies in preparation for the Indy 500, Sunday May 7 is rookie orientation and qualification day. In honor of Indy’s 90 th Anniversary and as part of the opening ceremonies, the 2006 Corvette Z06 Pace Car will lead a parade lap of 90 Corvettes as part of the plans.

Corvette Marketing turned to the Museum to arrange for the 90 Corvettes, and NCM members and supporters Jim & Sharon Love stepped up to the plate to help with the arrangements and the gathering of the 90 Corvettes. With only a short amount of time to meet the request, Sharon & Jim turned to the clubs in the Indianapolis area to get the word out.  Participants were taken on a first come basis and the 90 slots and 5 standby positions were filled in a matter of a couple of days. Participants will receive passes to the event, parking in a special corral and lunch in addition to the parade lap.

Filling the Flint Brick Wall

Several months ago, a special “Flint Brick Wall” promotion kicked off to benefit our Building Campaign efforts and to date, over 175 Flint wall bricks have been reserved through donations by enthusiasts world-wide.

A limited number of spaces are available on this special wall created inside the Museum to display support of our Building Campaign efforts. These historic bricks are remnants from the Corvette Assembly Plant building where the 1953 Corvettes were built. You can have your name, business or Corvette Club name engraved on a signature plate and attached as a permanent fixture incorporated into the Flint brick wall of the St. Louis Corvette Assembly Plant display of the Museum for a lasting way to recognize your support. Find out more about the Flint Brick Wall by visiting our website at: https://www.corvettemuseum.com/flint-bricks/flintwall.shtml
