Next Week It's Gonna Be a Bash!

It's not too late to pop over to Bowling Green, Kentucky for the Museum's annual C5/C6 Bash! The event kicks off next Thursday, April 29 and wraps up Saturday, May 1 (what better place to be than Kentucky on Derby Day?). On-site registration is available.

Corvette Race Team member Johnny O'Connell will be on hand for autographs (and did you know the Corvette Store is the ONLY retailer carrying Johnny merchandise?). We also have a great line-up of activities including seminars, silent auction, digital scavenger hunt, car show, poker run, road tours, ladies' oasis and much more. We hope to see you HERE!

Tom Wallace Joins Motorsports Park Team

Tom Wallace knows Corvettes. As a former Vehicle Line Executive for General Motors and Corvette Chief Engineer, he was at the wheel when the ZR1 Corvette was born, giving the world a 638 horsepower, 200+ mph, American-made super-car. Today, he's working on a new chapter of motorsports history and teaming up with the National Corvette Museum to promote and develop a 400-acre Motorsports Park.

Tom is enthusiastic about the project and looking forward to being involved. His first focus will be on fundraising, corporate sponsorships and planning for track operation.

“Since before my retirement in 2009, I have thought that a Motorsports Park at the Museum would raise the whole Corvette community to another level,” Tom said. “Initially, I’ll be working with Tom Blair in pursuing sponsors for the project. Tom (Blair) is an outstanding businessman and researcher and a good strategist of visionary business models.”

Corvette Races to Second in Long Beach Street Fight

Things were looking a little grim for Corvette Racing at the halfway point of the 100-minute American Le Mans at Long Beach, but Jan Magnussen battled back from sixth to a runner-up finish in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R. Magnussen and teammate Johnny O'Connell threaded their way through the unforgiving concrete barriers that line the Long Beach street circuit to finish four seconds behind the No. 45 Porsche of Pat Long and Joerg Bergmeister. The No. 4 Compuware Corvette of Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta was not so fortunate, finishing bruised and battered in ninth at the checkered flag.

Corvette Racing’s next event is the American Le Mans Monterey at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday, May 22. The six-hour race will start at 2:30 p.m. PT and will be televised by CBS Sports on May 29 at 1:30 p.m. ET. For Corvette Racing news and updates visit: corvetteracing.com. Photo by Richard Prince
